The Yodelers once again made their annual two trips to Aspen. Trip one began on January 15th with 25 Yodelers skiing the uncrowded slopes and enjoying temps in the 30s. Snow conditions were good and we received three-plus inches of snow on our last day to top off the trip.
Some restaurants were closed and mask restrictions were enforced on buses and some indoor areas. The Aspen Mountain Lodge was our base for the week with convenient bus service located just across the street to each of the four mountains. The Lodge hosted an evening party for both of our trips and the Yodelers Club also hosted two pizza parties on each trip.
Trip two began on February 28th with 38 Yodelers attending. Temps were even higher on this trip, with highs in the 40s and 50s in town all week, and every day was filled with sun….perfect Spring skiing in late February.
Fortunately, Aspen had received some much-needed snow just before we arrived, so the slopes provided plenty to ski on. Restrictions due to the Covid pandemic had eased some since the January trip and masks were not required in a number of places. The Lodge provided a continental breakfast every morning. However, because of Covid, The Lodge was unable to provide its usual daily happy hour that it had in the past. But there were no restrictions on bringing our own libations and snacks to share in the common area. So every afternoon we would gather there to chat and go over the day’s skiing before heading out to various places for dinner.
Saturday morning, we boarded the bus and made a slow trip to the airport in the snow. Overall, it was a great week of skiing and we are now looking forward to Spring, and making plans for the 2022-23 ski season.
A special thank you to Melanie Love and her staff at the Aspen Mountain Lodge for their great hospitality during our two 2022 visits to Aspen.
