It was a year to the weekend that “Summer Carnival 2024” was first in it’s plaining stages. Seasoned trip leaders Paul Benkufsky & Bryan Stadtler put the thoughts to paper. Summer Carnival 2024 main goal was to bring the Midwest Sport & Ski Council’s 13 affiliated clubs together. It was over 2 years since the MSC had the entire council clubs together for any large Trip. Summer Carnival was attended by 23 members from MN Sitzmark and MN Ski Hawks Ski & Social Clubs.
Summer Carnival 2024 took place August 15-18, at Arrowwood Resort and Conference Center, Alexandria Minnesota. Over 3 days of separate activities were planned both in and around the resort.
Thursday afternoon arrival day attendees arrived early to enjoy what the resort had to offer. 3 restaurants, indoor outdoor pools, tennis facility, and the largest indoor water park in the upper northwest. Attendees were meet with a “Happy Hour” group meet up before the first of three pontoon excursions around Lake Darling.
Friday had a day “packed” full of activities. To kick off the day was the first annual “MSC Golf 9-Hole Scramble” at Atikwa Golf Course at Arrowwood Resort. 13 golfers were teamed up with a foursome with separate challenge holes for both men and women. Avid Pickleball attendees were able to find the Pickleball court Saturday morning as well. After golf the second of three-pontoon excursion around Lake darling. While other attendees were enjoying the water, other attendees ventured to Carlos Creek Winery for sampling including lunch at Stoke Pizza Kitchen. Later that evening a celebration and memories shared from the day around the large bonfire pit at Arrowood Resort.
Saturday was an early start for a few as the “18-hole Scramble” teed off at 8:00AM at Atikwa Golf Course.
Other attendees took this time to enjoy the sun making its way back with trips to the local farmers market in Alexandria. A few attendees also hit the Central lakes trail for a biking excursion. The Central Lakes trail is over 50 miles long with zero elevation that goes right through the city of Alexandria. Saturday afternoon the sun made its way out. From sitting in a chair at the beach, pontooning, kayaking, and jet skiing made its way to Lake Darling. Saturday evening dinner was meet with the entire group sharing a platted meal from Arrowwood Resort chef’s. To tie it all off, all met for the last bonfire for the weekend at the bonfire pit to share the day.
