It has been 3 years since MSC Winter Carnival took place. Winter Carnival returned for 2025, January 9-12 at Snowriver Resort, Wakefield Michigan (ski areas include Jackson Creek and Black River Basin). The trip had over 50 participants that were from the affiliate MSC clubs of the MN Sitzmark, MN Ski Hawks Sports & Social Club, 3M Ski & Snow Board Club, Traverski Ski & Social Club, Tuesday Wipeouts, and Four Seasons Adventure Club.
Seasoned Trip Leader, Paul Benkufsky took charge from planning to execution for a weekend planned with events and activities. This year had a theme, and it was “Back to the 70’s”.
Friday events and social time started on a relaxed motor coach bus from the Twin Cities. 70’s theme music playing in the background and same 70’s music with a “Movie Trivia” game for prizes. On arrival at Snowriver resort, all attendees were met with a bonfire for S’mores, and a private welcome party at Jackson Creek’s own Dudley’s Tavern.
Saturday started with overnight snow to bring “Champagne Powder” to start the day. Early rise breakfast buffet to bring the fuel to body. Activities started the day at Black River Basin for “Poker Run”. Attendees tried to make the best “Draw 5” poker hand for prizes. Poker Run continued an hour later at Jackson Creek. Later that afternoon the annual “Wine & Cheese Party” on the deck at Jackson Creek. A buffet dinner was provided at the Sugar Maple Summit Event Center with the 70’s theme. Attendees brought back the attire to bring the 70’s to life including a “Photo Booth” to capture the moment. To end the evening, attendees were welcomed to Dudley’s Tavern for local music entertainment.
Sunday was same start but now over 5” of fresh “Champagne Powder”. Early rise breakfast was offered again to start the day. Activities planned were, “How much powder can you shred” was the goal before late afternoon departure with box lunches to the Twin Cities.
