Have you ever gone to the Cafesjian Art Trust Museum in Shoreview? We attended an exhibit there on January 16th. It is an amazing little museum originally filled with works by the artist Chihuly donated by a private collector. New exhibits come and go but one room has a glass ceiling holding a full collection of Chihuly glass. Worth the trip to Shoreview.
With very little snow and lots of icy trails, many hiking and snowshoeing events this winter were canceled. Instead, we put imagination to work coming up with costumes for our Tacky Party and Valentine Celebration.
Eight Ullrs made the trip to Giants Ridge in Biwabik, MN for downhill skiing in the last week of February. The first day of the trip was cloudy and cold. Seven skied on only a few inches of new snow. One strapped on snowshoes and plodded along. Weather the second day was ideal and those who skied enjoyed perfect corduroy groomed ski runs.
March 12th kicks off our Spring luncheons with a speaker at Joseph’s Grill in St. Paul. The speaker will be David Jones on “The Lincoln Assassination – A Fragile Time.” The April 9th speaker will be Gary Hanson on “What is Art and What is a Masterpiece?”
Our new website is up and running. — Check us out at www.ullr.org. — Spring is coming and you’ll want to join us on our hiking events. Our first hike is April 1st. I only hope that is not an April Fools’ Trick!
