Boy, we Traverskis have been busy! Every other month we join together to work at our local food pantry packing food for Southern Minnesota Channel One. Lots of fun and giving back to the community.
Early in the summer, we gathered at a member’s farm in central Iowa for a relaxing Welcome Summer camp-out. We had a cornhole tournament, nice camp fires, plenty of food and just hanging out.
Members have attended many music events in Rochester and surrounding venues as well as organized movie nights.
We had a wonderful Farewell Summer camp-out, kayaking and bicycling weekend in Lanesboro at Eagle Cliff campground. About 25 people partook of the grilling, and merriment.
The Highlight of our summer was the 50th anniversary of Traverski’s founding. We roasted a pig over a wood fire; plenty of people brought food. Attendance was incredible. Around 120 people attended, many from the original group that started Traverski in 1971. People came from all over the country. We had 12 former presidents, and many folks still had their original Traverski shirts. There were many many fun stories shared, The history of the founding of Traverski was interesting and the oldest former member attending was 94. He still rides his bicycle! What a great day!
A South Lake Tahoe ski trip is planned beginning February 4, 2023. Currently we have only one opening, but let me know if anyone is interested in that one spot.
In April, 14 of us are traveling to Roatan, Honduras for a scuba diving trip. Those of us not diving will entertain ourselves with kayaking and snorkeling, as well as just hanging out in the sunshine and eating good food.
We are so blessed to have such a rich history, great people then and now, and a very active and happy group.
